Mission Statement

Affirming person-centered care

Chicago Pride Center offers a breadth of specializations and training to tailor the therapeutic experience to the client, serving children and adults throughout the life-course. We bring a depth of experience in work with LGBTQIA+ and Gender Expansive folx, non-monogamous relationships as well as veterans through trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, transformative justice and empowerment-based frameworks.

We offer individual, relational and group psychotherapy focusing on mood and behavioral issues, grief, trauma and substance use disorders with specializations in interpersonal dynamics, effective communication, relational and tri-phasic trauma work, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational interviewing, Mindfulness and Psychodynamic therapies in safe, affirming community. We bring a depth of experience in serving LGBTQIA+ and Gender Expansive folx with ongoing group therapy focusing on themes relating to identity, belonging and self-acceptance utilizing anti-oppressive, transformative justice and empowerment-based frameworks.

Our Programs

Individual Therapy

With over thirty years of combined experience serving LGBTQ and Gender Expansive folks, Chicago Pride Center staff provide a breadth of specializations and experience to tailor the treatment experience to the individual. We offer individual, trauma informed therapy for substance use, mood and behavioral disorders with specializations in relational trauma work, Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational, Mindfulness and Psychodynamic therapies. We also work with clients who want to explore identities that include gender, sexuality, sexual orientation, race and ethnicity.

Relational Therapy

People who hold LGBTQ/GE identities sometimes encounter challenges in their relationships with concerns about communication, intimacy, boundaries, fidelity, sex, money, and parenting.  Other issues may  include coming out,  expansive or polyamorous relational constellations or substance use. We offer our depth of experience working with these concerns in LGBTQ/GE communities.

Group Therapy

Chicago Pride Center offers short term and ongoing group therapy focusing on themes relating to LGBTQ and Gender Expansive experience, substance use and intersectional identity utilizing anti-oppressive, empowerment based frameworks. We bring motivational and harm reduction perspectives to a client-centered, affirming and sex-positive environment of care that acknowledges the complexity of identity, and the importance of safe respectful spaces as the optimal context for healing and community.

Clinical Consultation and Supervision

Our clinical staff have a depth of training, expertise and experience in client-centered, trauma informed behavioral healthcare and substance use treatment. We offer clinical consultation and supervision to individuals and organizations wishing to increase their capacities to provide affirming care as well as to CADC and LCSW candidates working toward certification and licensure.

    Hugh has over 13 years of experience working with LGBT, gender expansive and HIV impacted adolescents and adults in individual, relationship, family and group therapy. He specializes in helping people move out of stuck places, healing trauma and loss, and changing destructive behavior patterns in an empathic, relational and strengths-based context. He values the uniqueness of each person and tailors the therapy to the specific needs and preferences of the individual in an environment that is direct and transparent, yet gentle and supportive. Whether you are struggling with substance use, depression, anxiety, discontent in a relationship or lonely without one, change is possible. Hugh provides a safe healing environment for freeing your potential. You will have a partner and advocate on your side who brings a depth of experience, anti-oppressive frameworks and training to work for you.

    LIZZIE STEWART, LCSW

    Lizzie completed her graduate studies at the University of Chicago in 2018 and has been providing therapy since 2016. She enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults, and provides individual, family, and relationship therapy. Lizzie believes deeply in the importance of an empathic, relational, and strengths-based approach to therapy and her therapeutic style is warm and caring while remaining transparent and direct. Lizzie is an LGBTQ-affirming therapist with a commitment to honoring the unique cultures and identities of every person.

    Lizzie has also been supervising unlicensed social workers and providing consultation for other therapists professionally since 2020. As a supervisor and consultant, Lizzie is compassionate, connected, and encouraging. She deeply enjoys working with new clinicians and is open to accepting new supervisees.

    We are currently negotiating with some Medicaid HMO plans to provide services as in-network providers. While we do not currently bill other insurances directly, we can provide our clients with a monthly statement, which they may submit to their insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement based on their insurer's policies.  

    Out of network coverage

    If you would like to use your out of network insurance, we recommend contacting the member services number on your insurance card and asking about your out-of-network mental health benefits (our providers are all Licensed Clinical Social Workers). Be sure to ask about the deductible, the rate of reimbursement, and any limitation on the number of sessions. 


    Sliding Scale

    In some cases, we are able to offer any of our services on a sliding fee scale as assessed based on verification of income. Please call (773) 334-3533 to request an application for sliding scale.

    Full Fee per session

    Initial assessment:  $250

    Individual psychotherapy :  $180

    Relational therapy:  $225

    Group Therapy: $ 80 per session

    Clinical Consultation: $180/hour

    Clinical Supervision: $60 - 180 per session


    Licensure

    Chicago Pride Center, LLC is Licensed in the state of Illinois to provide behavioral healthcare and substance use disorder treatment to adolescents and adults and has been certified by the Joint Commission on quality care.
